 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Marcus Campbell
(NCE ’16)
Superintendent, Evanston Township High School District 202
Marcus Campbell leads with clarity, discipline, and purpose. Since 2022, he has served as superintendent of Evanston Township High School District 202, guiding district strategy, instruction, and culture with a strong focus on equity and student success.
Before stepping into the superintendency, Campbell served in several leadership roles at ETHS. In those roles, he helped strengthen teaching and learning, expand diversity and equity initiatives, and remove barriers that limit opportunity for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
His steady, people-centered leadership reflects the ethos of NLU. Campbell earned his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the NCE in 2016. His preparation emphasized access, equity, and practical problem solving, values he applies every day as a district leader.
Marcus grew up on the South Side of Chicago, an experience he credits with shaping his discipline and cultural grounding. He spent years studying violin and performing with the Soul Children of Chicago, and later sang with the University of Illinois Black Chorus. Music taught him focus, collaboration, and commitment. Those lessons continue to guide his work.
Dr. Campbell’s leadership reflects what NLU graduates do best. They lead with equity, serve their communities, and turn preparation into impact.
