About Us
The mission of the Office of Community Standards & Compliance at NLU involves the following components: 1. Foster a safe, respectful, equitable, and accountable student community — ensuring that students act with integrity, respect, and awareness of how their behavior affects others. 2. Protect rights and ensure fairness — via procedures for incident reporting, grievance / appeal, standards, clear expectations, due process. 3. Support student development — using behavior/conduct issues as opportunities for growth (ethical, personal, social), not just punishment. 4. Prevent harm and intervene early — the CARE model suggests trying to catch disruptive or harmful behavior before it escalates. 5. Align with institutional values — inclusion, equity, innovation, excellence, access.
