This February, National Louis University honors 140 years of impact and commitment to equity through a month-long celebration of Black History. Our theme, Voices, Service, and Celebration, reflects the power of dialogue, the importance of community engagement, and the joy of cultural expression.

Throughout the month, we will feature:
- Voices of BeSEEN – a student-led civil discourse series amplifying perspectives and fostering meaningful conversations.
- Service Project Day – a day dedicated to giving back and honoring the legacy of service.
- Week of Fun & Games – interactive activities celebrating Black culture, NLU’s history, and the power of community.
- Opening and Closing Celebrations – moments of reflection, music, and recognition of community impact.

A Day of Service
Take action and make an impact! Join us for BSEEN Gives Back, a day dedicated to serving communities across Chicago, Wheeling and Lisle. This event is all about honoring Black History Month through meaningful service and connection.
Students can earn service hours by participating in volunteer projects that strengthen neighborhoods and uplift lives. Your engagement in this experience contributes to the 140 acts of service that NLU is committed to as part of our celebration of 140 years of service!

Voices of BESEEN: The "N" Word – A Conversation We Need to Have

Join us for the closing session of our Black History Month civil discourse series as we tackle one of the most complex and impactful topics: the use of the N-word within and outside of the Black community. This powerful conversation will be led by Lateria Walton and Zaria Washington, creating a space for honest dialogue, reflection, and understanding.
